Rope Runner

A short, precise 2D platformer where you must utilise your grappling hook to beat the obstacles placed before you. Can you use your skill to come out on top? And if you're up to the challenge, can you collect all the butterflies along the way?

Note: this game supports both keyboard and controller, however a controller is highly encouraged.

Update (19/09/2024):

  • The x key is now a default key for grappling.
  • The gravity physics have been tweaked to make control whilst falling more predictable and fair.
  • Bounce pad physics have been reworked to handle jumping and directional input more intuitively.

Add an alternative control for the hook. Like [Ctrl] or [Z] or something :P

The keyboard controls could definitely be improved. I'd like to add control rebinding potentially, or at a minimum some alternative controls. Thanks for the feedback!

Pick a darker font or background in the itch page, it's hard to read the text without any contrast. :)

Itch seemed to have lost my dark background, hopefully it sticks this time!

nice game , awkward controls - L is a terrible choice of key for the hook ...

I appreciate the feedback! I may add control rebinding for this reason, otherwise if you had a key in mind that would work better for you please let me know!

Thanks for playing.

rebinding would be a good idea ! i prefer arrows anyway and space for jump , x for the hook ... but everyones different . something closer to the spacebar would be better , m or n maybe ?

I'll see what I can do. Thanks!
